Regnition Co., Ltd. (“we”, “us”, or “our”) sets out this Privacy Policy describing how we handle user information in “Solfe”, the learning app we provide (the “App”).
Article 1 (Information We Collect)
To provide the App, we collect the following information.
- Account information: the email address, display name, and user identifier obtained when you sign in with Google, Apple, or an email address. If you use the App as a guest, we issue only an anonymous user identifier and do not collect your email address or name.
- Learning records: records generated through your use of the App, such as your answer history, whether answers were correct, study dates, and review schedules.
- Usage records: the dates and number of times you opened the App, the number of times the purchase screen was shown, and the number of times our Creatone information in the App was shown or selected. We use these only for statistics to improve the service (we do not record per-screen browsing history or time spent, and we do not track you for advertising).
- Purchase information: the status of your subscription (payments are processed by the App Store or Google Play; we do not collect payment information such as credit card numbers).
- Audio: your singing voice captured by the microphone to score sight-singing (processed only on your device and neither sent nor stored; see Article 6).
- Question reports: the content of a report when you report an error in a question.
- Survey answers: your answers to optional surveys asked in the App (your purpose for studying, whether you are “high school or younger”, “university or vocational school student”, or “working adult”, and the category of instrument you play). Answering is optional, and you can use every feature of the App without answering. We do not collect your date of birth or age.
- Exam-year monitor application information: only if you apply for the exam-year monitor program, your school-year category (the three categories above), the type of school you are applying to, your major, your preferred school (optional), whether you have a guardian’s consent, whether you wish to receive announcement emails, and the date and time of that consent; together with your answers to the monthly surveys (received through a form on our website and stored linked to your account). We do not ask for your date of birth or age.
We comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other laws applicable to the protection of children’s personal information. The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians who believe this may have happened should contact us at the address in Article 11.
Article 2 (Purposes of Use)
- To provide, maintain, and improve the App
- To save your learning records and let you continue studying across devices
- To adjust the questions you are given based on your learning records (for example, giving more questions on topics you got wrong and fewer on topics you have mastered; this is also explained in the App)
- To confirm the status of paid plans
- To improve the quality of our question data
- For statistical analysis to improve the service (survey answers and usage records are used only for this purpose and the next one, and are not used to choose questions)
- To tell you about our services (based on your answer about the category of instrument you play, we introduce our wind-instrument learning service “Creatone” within the App to people who play wind instruments; we do not use this for delivery outside the App, such as by email, and we do not use your answers about your purpose or school year for this)
- To score sight-singing (judging pitch and timing on your device)
- To provide AI learning support (answering your questions about a question)
- To respond to inquiries
- To run the exam-year monitor program (providing Solfe Pro, sending monthly survey invitations, and making improvements based on feedback); application information is not used to choose questions
- To send announcement emails about Solfe to people who asked to receive them (you can unsubscribe from each email)
Article 3 (Account Shared with Creatone)
Your App account shares an account platform with our other services, including our music learning service “Creatone”. Please note the following.
- The App and Creatone are used with the same account (the same user identifier).
- To carry over Creatone member benefits to the App, we refer to the status of your Creatone subscription. This reference is read-only, and the App never changes Creatone data.
- When you delete your account (Article 7), we check whether each of our services has usage records for that account so that we do not mistakenly delete your account for another service. This check is read-only.
- For statistical analysis to improve the service, we may count the number of people using the App through Creatone member benefits and the number of people using both Creatone and the App. Such counts remain statistics and are not used in a way that identifies individuals.
Article 4 (Disclosure to Third Parties and External Services)
Except as required by law, we do not provide personal information to third parties without your consent. The App uses the following external services, and information is sent to each provider to the extent necessary.
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) — infrastructure such as authentication and databases
- Anthropic, PBC (Claude API) — AI learning support; see Article 5
- RevenueCat, Inc. — subscription management (including providing Solfe Pro to exam-year monitors)
- Apple Inc. — in-app purchase payment processing (iPhone)
- Google LLC (Google Play) — in-app purchase payment processing (Android)
Article 5 (AI Learning Support)
The App lets you ask questions about the question or textbook section you are viewing. Only when you use this feature is the following information sent to a generative AI. The recipient is the Claude API of Anthropic, PBC (United States).
- The text of the question you enter, and the earlier conversation about the same question or section
- Information such as the question, its choices, correct answer, and explanation, note names extracted from the musical example, and the text of the textbook section
Before you use this feature for the first time, we show you in the App what will be sent and to whom, and we send information only after obtaining your consent.
We do not send your name, email address, or account identifier. Information is sent only when you use this feature and is never sent unless you use it.
AI answers are a learning aid, and their accuracy is not guaranteed. If an answer differs from the explanation of the question, please treat the explanation as correct.
Please do not include information that can identify a person or confidential information of others in what you enter.
Article 6 (Use of the Microphone)
For sight-singing, the App captures your singing voice with the microphone and scores pitch and timing. This processing is completed entirely on your device, and the captured audio is never sent to our servers or any third party’s servers. The audio is used only temporarily for scoring, and we do not store it.
The resulting scores and records of tendencies are stored as learning records under Article 1. You can stop the App from using the microphone at any time in your device settings (if you do, sight-singing scoring will not be available).
Article 7 (Account Deletion)
You may request deletion of your account at any time in the App (My Page > Delete account). Deletion erases all of your learning records in the App, as well as your exam-year monitor application information and survey answers. Question reports may be retained for quality improvement after removing the link to you.
If the account has a record of use of our other services that share the account platform, such as Creatone, only your Solfe data is deleted, and your accounts and data for the other services are not deleted. If there is no record of use of other services, the account itself is deleted.
Article 8 (Security)
We take appropriate security measures to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of the information we collect. The organizational, personnel, physical, and technical measures are described in our company privacy policy (in Japanese).
Article 9 (Requests for Disclosure, Correction, Suspension of Use, etc.)
You or your agent may request that we notify you of the purposes of use of personal data we hold, disclose it, correct, add to, or delete its contents, suspend or erase its use, or stop providing it to third parties. Please contact us at the address in Article 11. After confirming your identity, we will respond without delay in accordance with applicable law.
Matters not covered by this Policy are governed by our company privacy policy (in Japanese), which also lists matters concerning retained personal data, including our name, address, and representative.
Article 10 (Changes to This Policy)
We may change this Policy as necessary. If we make important changes, we will let you know in the App or on this page.
Article 11 (Contact)
For inquiries about this Policy, please use the contact listed on our support page.
